Bent
1999 BENT was designed as a convertible seat made from plywood and later on of compound material together with my friend Christophe de la Fontaine and supportd by German manufacturer Elmar Flötotto. Now the whole BENT family is made from perforated sheet metal and produced by the Italian manufacturer Moroso. The idea of bending perforated aluminium sheets allows shapes that are not manageable in a traditional step by step bending process due all perforated edges are bent the same time by hand. The familiy consist of three different tables, stools and a bench.
BENT wurde1999 entwickelt als Hocker aus Formsperrholz, später aus Verbundmaterial – der Entwurf entstand zusammen mit meinem Freund Christophe de la Fontaine und mit Unterstützung des deutschen Herstellers Elmar Flötotto. Jetzt wird die ganze BENT Produktfamilie aus perforiertem Blech vom italienischen Hersteller Moroso produziert. Die Idee, perforiertes Aluminiumblech zu biegen, lässt Formen zu, die nicht im traditionellen Biegeprozess nach einzelnen Schritten möglich sind, deshalb werden jetzt alle perforierten Kanten in einem einzigen Prozess in die endgültige Form gebogen. Die Familie besteht aus drei unterschiedlichen Tischen, Hockern und einer Bench.
